Samsung Galaxy Nexus – Shipping update

Comments ( 89 )

30/11 Update) We expect to ship all pre-orders and any new orders today. Samsung Distribution is stating that the volume bug fix will now take place OTA (over the air) very soon -this also applies to our new batch as we were misinformed that the new devices were being “flashed”. Prices will continue to fluctuate as we source stock.

If you have any queries please email us on info@handtec.co.uk

Just to add my voice to the message here, I’m another customer that pre-ordered and emailed asking you to ship when you held back the first batch, and have now been told when I spoke to your online customer help yesterday that you didn’t ship my Nexus and won’t be able to until tomorrow.

As a result I’ve been inconvenienced and have had to ask you to change my delivery address, and have been left feeling badly treated since you admit you’ve shipped devices to new-orders before those of us that pre-ordered. Absolutely disgraceful.

Some form of compensation isn’t just appropriate at this stage, its a moral obligation.

You have had my money for 3 weeks now. The original delays were annoying enough, though obviously not your fault. The delay due the bug was reasonable, though could have been handled better. But to discover that people who ordered weeks ago have had their orders shipped to other people is the final nail in the coffin. How do you recover from this? I’ll tell you. EVERY customer who pre-ordered and approved delivery despite the bug should have their phone dispatched for SAME DAY delivery on the 25th, so that we get them before the weekend. Yes this will cost you a great deal, but it would certainly restore our faith in you and stop us from cancelling our orders and buying retail at the weekend.

Obviously the above would only work for UK customers, Overseas customers should equally have their dispatch increased to the fastest available option for their country and possibly some store credit with which to buy accessories. As I said before, this will cost you a great deal, but will save you a fortune in customer goodwill and you can always cover some of the cost from the interest you have been earning on our money.

Handtec you said all orders up to 21th. are covered, however you decided to hold shipment and now  when the hold is released after Samsung and Google fix announcement, suddenly you don’t have stock !! Either  you lied about customers are being covered or you sold my unit to someone else!

Do you have any other explanation? Before I judge your professionalism !!

      Man

I ordered the phone last month “October” and I asked them to ship it yesterday and then I got an email from Fedex with the tracking number but today the shipment was cancelled

You can NOT imagine how much I am pissed off by now

  • Anonymous

Handtec is over their heads in this by now, I’ve heard alot of people canceling their orders with them. Best thing you guys at handtec can do right now is upgrade the shipping delivery speed to make up for your shortcomings (I know the story) but you guys said you had enough stock yesterday then you said you didn’t….

  • http://www.facebook.com/joeyklatzko Joseph Klatzko

My friend ordered from you guys and got an E-Mail from a FedEx employee requesting he fill out FCC forms in order to clear customs with this device.  Is this something I will have to do also?  The form he showed me looks confusing as all hell and something that Handtec should have filled out, not the consumer.
I should note that I’m located in the US

  • Anonymous

It is not my problem if Samsung pulled the stock or not.

I told you clearly yesterday to ship my phone immediately and this is what you should have done NOT giving my a track number and then saying that the shipping won’t happen until the 25th

You are forcing me to avoid you in the future orders

    • Anonymous

Seems Handtec didn’t have that many in their first batch and sold them for new orders, ran out and now we have to wait longer. If it ships on Friday, how about upgrading to Saturday delivery for free?

      • Anonymous

I wish I have ordered the phone from clove.

I could have been playing with the phone already

        • http://www.facebook.com/a7med.k Ahmed Buchiri

          agree with that

        • Dan Baran

I was slightly ok with them stopping shipping due to the bug. It was a cause for concern for a bit. The way they did it by not sending out emails to the customers was wrong. Then I request for them to ship mine and find out via their blog that they screwed up and shipped other peoples orders first. That just pisses me off. I was really hoping to have it on Monday but being in the US who knows when it’ll get here with all these delays. I really hope they at the very least refund everyone’s money for shipping or even just upgrade us shipping wise for free. Up until today I was ready to recommend this company to some other friends at this point I’ll probably be sending them elsewhere when they ask me where I got my phone.

So Handtec the ball is in your court so please find a way to right the warehouse mix up.

  • Jdog25

Google already said that they will send out an update to fix this. So then is Samsung going to let them ship or wait for what could be a few days to weeks.

  • Anonymous

So what about the stock already received? If I emailed yesterday to say I’m happy for you to ship it, am I now waiting for your new stock to arrive? The delay only reassures us if Samsung admit to a fault and fixing it, otherwise it’s just a further delay.

    • http://openid.tomservo.eu/ Tom Servo

Same here. I gave permission yesterday, now I read my order is delayed. You supposedly got decent amount of stock, and shipping was stopped relatively early on due to the volume issue. So there should be some excess stock.

I didn’t preorder mid-October to be put at the end of the queue, while new orders get it first.

Unless Samsung specifically told you to stop shipping. If that’s the case, it should be mentioned.

    • Anonymous

Yeah it may get delayed until December

I bet on the 25th there will be no stock available yet, and we will have to wait more weeks

I told them yesterday to ship my phone since they have stock, now I have to wait again until they get it again !!!

We have contacted Samsung Distribution just awaiting reply. As per main post we can still send the units – just send us an email to confirm after purchase.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=710553906 Mohammad Almosallam

Before asking you to send me the unit, I need to know two things:
1- What did your tests say about the problem, is it a software or hardware issue?
2- Did you find the same issue on every unit you tested or just on some?

      • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=710553906 Mohammad Almosallam

Your professionalism obligates you to reply with straight forward answer

Well their last post was an hour ago! beside I wasn’t looking for an instant answer, I just want an answer

      • http://twitter.com/jordieg03 Jordon Griffiths

As per Update D.. “Not all stock is effected as our initial testing confirmed.” :)

        • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=710553906 Mohammad Almosallam

As per Update “D” the conformation based on initial testing! That’s mean they are still testing and more results to come !! We need to know the final results from the complete test or when they are going to have a final result ! You cant confirm something from an initial test !!! And since, they are sending units out upon customer request that’s mean they are don from all testing not just initial, so they should have a more confirmed answer by now :)

    • http://twitter.com/RobFone Rob Fone

I’m a bit confused about your update regarding stock being shipped out-of-order, and this whole situation is about to cause me a major headache, if you haven’t shipped my order as requested, as you’ll be shipping to an address and I won’t be there! I haven’t had any response to my email so I have no idea if my phone has been shipped. Until this point I’ve been impressed with how you’ve dealt with the whole Nexus mess, but now I’m just thinking… What’s going on? :

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=710553906 Mohammad Almosallam

Did you guys contact Samsung regarding this stock ! If yes what did they say? How long tell you get a new problem free stock?

Update us with approximate time frame please ASAP, because if this problem is going to make me wait for a month or so, I rather cancel my order and wait for the USA Version.

alittle researching on your own never hurt.
if you are in america we dont use the 900 mhz bands for 2g (edge) it wont impact you.

    • Anonymous

Same , I am in the states as well so shouldnt have the problem anyways

  • Lionel Y.

so whats the plan? are you going to wait until a fix is found or are you going to isolate all the faulty units aside and make sure the units shipped are fully functional?

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=501204899 Justin Kenyon

I don’t know their plan… But, I can confidently say that it seems that ALL the units that Samsung manufactured are affected by this issue. I think that the only people that are saying that it is not happening are those that are in an area that is not utilizing the 900MHz 2G Frequency.

  • http://twitter.com/mattrenvoize Matt Renvoize

I hope you are right on the bug and that your stock has been quality checked by Samsung for the bug. It has been proven that it is a hardware issue caused by RF intereference on the EDGE/2G band (900MHz).

When will the shipping conformation emails go out?

  • Alexey Ronin

HT, Please don’t send samsung galaxy nexus orders to russia until it fully tested on “900mgz volume bug”. In russia there is only 900mhz working fine everywhere. we have some 3g only in >1M people cities.

  • Deadlast28

Is this testing the 900 frequency specifically, including putting a 900 phone next to the galaxy, as per the youtube clips, etc.

Its great you guys are doing some further testing.

Is this a different batch from last weeks sim version?

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Sahrin-Zac-Zainudin/1782648706 Sahrin ‘Zac’ Zainudin

Can you confirm this batch has been tested to make sure they do not have the same volume control bug that people are having with the Galaxy Nexus phones that where shipped last week.

    **Edit**
Sorry Just noticed you already answered this question

  • FutureGNexOwner

    Hope mine gets shipped tomorrow

Great to hear you are about to receive the stock. If an order was shipped on the 22nd to the U.S, when do you expect it to arrive ? ( before or after thanksgiving? )

You guys are awsome, I have already ordered this phone from Handtec, my next nexus is also going to be ordered from you guys. Thanks for being professional.

    • Anonymous

      I have a question,

Let’s say I recieve the phone (am in the US), and it works for like 6 months, something goes wrong with it and I need to replace it, let’s say the problem doesn’t render the phone unusable….

Should I pay for shipping it back?
Will it be possible to give you my CC information and you hold the amount for a new phone and send it to me? so when I recieve the replacement, I ship the broken one to you guys? After you guys recieve the broken unit will it you would left the hold on the CC?

Where can I read about the warranty for International customers?

      • http://profiles.google.com/desmet2006 Alex Fischer

I’d also like to know about the warranty information for international customers as I too am based in the US.

FOR YOU TO GET ANY PROBLEMS
SO INSTALL O2/VODE/TESCO/CARPHONE SIM INTO PHONE
      AND TURN OF 3G

TESTING WITHOUT THE ABOVE CONFIG WILL NOT WORK

  • http://www.facebook.com/a7med.k Ahmed Buchiri

Another question, clove said on their website that they contacted Samsung regarding the volume issues in the galaxy nexus, any confirmation from your side?? honestly i want to buy it from Handtec, as i have great history with you

    • Anonymous

Yes this is the same stock so it has been checked by Samsung

      • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=501204899 Justin Kenyon

sorry, haven’t been following everything else… but, when you say “… it has been checked by Samsung”. Does that mean that these DO NOT have the volume issue?

        • Anonymous

We understand that this is the same stock as where other retailers have sourced from. From their statements it seems that Samsung has done some additional checks – however we will need to test stock and confirm this. If it is a Hardware fault it would be surprising that it would be fixed in such a short period. We will keep folks posted here.

      • Anonymous

I would love to know what checked by Samsung means as well, especially need to know if Samsung actually recognizes an issue and if it’s a software or a hardware faliure?
More information on this matter would be really appreciated.

    • Anonymous

from what I understand its only an issue under the 900 mhz edge bands. Which shouldnt impact those in the states. Not sure about you guys though.

      • Anonymous

Am not sure if it’s 900 or not but it seems to be a problem with G or Edge connection, I would really like to know if it’s a software or a hardware problem. I live in the US so maybe if it’s 900 I wouldn’t be affected but I want to be sure. Thanks for your input i’ll look into the 900 mhz frequency thing…

£499 for PAYG on Three, and they are saying they will have it on the 18th. It’s all very odd.

  • Szaman

    Hi

  • PH

    According to this:

    17th is the release date?

    http://crave.cnet.co.uk/mobiles/samsung-galaxy-nexus-not-delayed-says-samsung-50006068/
Is its still 21st for handtec?

  • CJ

Samsung have today confirmed the 17th to Cnet, Three and others have updated their pages to reflect this… are you still being told 21st?

  • Anonymous

O2 is releasing Gnexus on the 17th as they said in their google+ account. What about you ?

If you released this phone on the 17th, does this mean the shipments to USA will arrive on the 21st ?

  • Tkc Gray

    £509.99 -> $816

    This is rip-off!!
Google sell it for only $500.

1.6 times higher than its pricing.

    • Human Rhesus Department

Welcome to UK pricing. UK pricing for items has always been a number-for-number exact copy of US prices, so something in the US that costs $500 will cost around £500.

Also, show me where you can buy the Galaxy Nexus for $500. Unless I’m mistaken, you cannot, and you’re just going by what a contest is saying. Google don’t sell ANY phones anymore.

  • Anonymous

Is it gonna be the 17th or the week of 21st or Dec 2nd or next year ?

    • Richard

      Seriously you’re asking that again.

Handtec have made the following points abundantly clear:
      1. They are at the mercy of the Distributor (I’m gathering from the messages I read that would be samsung themselves)
      2. They have been currently informed that the phones will be coming on the 21st/11/11, by what handtec refers to as Samsung Distribution
      3. They have stated several times, when they (Handtec) knows anything more, we will know. (Which is excellent Service by the way, better than some of the 7th/11/11 Websites)
      4. They have also mentioned that when any others of the retailers get the phones, they should have them at almost the same time, if not before.
      5. They have also stated that when the phones come in, they will turn them around as soon as possible, back out the door so that we will have a minimal wait once they have recieved them. This is of course dependant on how many physical phones they recieve verses the First in First Served concept.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I don’t believe it could be to much clearer than that.

  • Sanjiv

I’m in Australia.  Placed & order & paid for it on October 22nd (when the extimated arrival date on your website was Nov 7th!).

When can I expect my order to be shipped?

    Thanks.
    Sanjiv

    • http://profiles.google.com/n.skoufis Nik Skoufis

I was told by Handtec that they will ship as soon as they arrive at Handtec. So I think you’d be lucky to get it on release day. Most likely a few days later.

  • Anonymous

Firstly we opologise for the delay. We are passing on information directly from Samsung distribution. We expect retailers to make similar announcements – but be rest assured if stock arrives earlier in the UK – we will have it.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Darrell-Jones/100001216751509 Darrell Jones

Thanks for responding. People are getting Jittery due to the constant changes in release date (here and elsewhere) but I am reassured by this response.

However I would point out that much of what you have said COULD have been said in the original 2 line statement and would have avoided the flood of comments here (and presumably e-mails to you).

  • http://twitter.com/GHOST010 andy bruinewold

xxxxx already has the device in stock and is selling now(nov 7th!!)im starting to regret buying 3 models at handtec.not even knowing im in the first batch yes or no. the main reason why people ordered at handtec was because they were first.and that point seems to be invalid now id really like handtec to clear this up and explain why the reason is,that us fitfully buyers dont get the info we are deserving.it wasnt a small amount of money i payd for the 3 devices @ handtec.im really losing my patience here.

    • Anonymous

Hi Andy. No one has stock and Handtec will still be one of the first retailers with stock. We will keep passing on info as we have it so we can keep our customers in the loop.

  • Deadlast28

Is there a way to confirm how many preorders have been received to date and how many phones Handtec has ordered for batch 1?

  • http://profiles.google.com/n.skoufis Nik Skoufis

I’d appreciate some clarification as well. Everybody else seems to be getting them on the 17th.
For a high profile, highly anticipated device like this, Handtec need to be careful. I’m a pretty impatient person, and seeing this makes me think ‘should I have gone with Handtec if they’re getting stock later than everyone else?’

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Darrell-Jones/100001216751509 Darrell Jones

Can you explain exactly what you mean by “distribution is stating delivery of this highly anticipated device has moved to week commencing 21st November. This will unfortunately effect all UK retailers.”. Is it Samsung distribution or some other third party? Samsung have stated that this phone will be released on the 17th November in the UK so why would “all UK retailers” now not get it till the following week?

    • Andy

It does seem odd that they announced a push back to w/c 21st on the same day that Samsung sent a press release out officially confirming the 17th.

On Handtec’s own product page, they even state that a push into “week 47″ (i.e. w/c 21st) is just a rumour. That question was answered the same day this entry was put up.

Other retailers don’t seem to be affected by this, as they all still state the 17th.

Not sure what to believe here…

      • http://www.facebook.com/people/Darrell-Jones/100001216751509 Darrell Jones

Handtec are , generally speaking, a reliable retailer and the fact that other sites have not changed their dates means nothing , I have seen sites claiming they are getting them tomorrow (07/11) for instance. I would appreciate clarification however.

  • Andybruintje
