Samsung Galaxy Alpha Overview
The Galaxy Alpha comes packed with a 4.7 HD Super AMOLED Display. The display is able to display ‘true’ grey, as it is able to find a good balance between the intensity of red, blue and green, the three primary colours. In addition, it will allow you to choose from a range of screen modes to tune the display’s colour output to your liking.
The Samsung Galaxy Alpha is powered by an Octa Core (Quad 1.8GHz + Quad 1.3GHz) Processor.
The new Galaxy Alpha is all about the design. Samsung launches its first metal body smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy Alpha. It comes with a polished metal band around the sides, top and bottom of the device. It makes the device look extremely attractive and more reliable. It has retained the same dotted soft plastic back as the Samsung Galaxy S5.
The new smartphone runs on Google’s latest mobile platform - Android 4.4.4 KitKat. It allows you to launch Google Search via your voice and allows for faster multi tasking
The Samsung Galaxy Alpha comes equipped with a 12 megapixel camera. It also includes 4K video recording and an HDR mode that lets you take pictures and capture video when there is either too much or too little light.
HDR (Rich Tone)
HDR mode lets you take pictures and capture video when there is either too much or too little light. Instant HDR shows you a preview of how the photo will be taken in HDR, instead of showing you the dark or light preview. HDR photos are also taken quicker, cancelling out the need to stay still.
Panorama lets you take almost-360-degree panorama shots, either vertically or horizontally.
Why should the person taking a photo miss out on all the fun? With Dual Camera you can use both cameras to put yourself in the photo. It takes photos with both the front and rear camera at the same time.
The Selective Focus feature is extremely useful because it lets you choose what parts of your picture you would like to keep and which parts you would like to blur out. It allows you to take a photo and choose the focus later. It lets you focus on an important object in either the foreground or background while blurring the other. After the picture is taken, go to your photo gallery and tap on the selective focus icon which gives you three focus options to choose from which are as follows: Near Focus, Far Focus and Pan Focus. Near Focus shows you a blurred background and clear foreground. The Far Focus focuses on the background whilst blurring out the foreground. The last option Pan Focus shows you a clear, sharp image with no blurring whatsoever. After selecting one of the 3 options, click done. If you change your mind, you can always go back in to the selective focus edit mode.
The Beauty Face Mode smoothes-out peoples faces removing any skin blemishes and wrinkles in the process.
The Virtual Tour Mode allows you to take photos of your house, street, school and more while the phone creates a panning and moving tour of the photo taken. This comes in handy when you want to show someone your house, street, school etc.
Ultra Power Saving Mode
What happens if you are running out of battery, have no charger but still have a couple of hours left in the day? The Ultra Power Saving Mode is the solution for you. It turns your devices screen grayscale, and gives you a black-and-white representation of your phone's display even if you are responding to a text or using an app. It turns off things like Bluetooth and WiFi. Once the display is off, it turns your phones data connection off and switches it back on once you start using your phone.
The Download Booster allows users to download files quicker by combining the power of their cellular (4G LTE) connectivity with their Wi-Fi connection. This will be extremely convenient for users who like to download large files in a hurry.
Quick Connect allows the user to easily search and connect to nearby devices. You can easily share content stored on your device with computers and also use it as a remote control by connecting it to a TV.
If you need to hide your super secret files, the private mode feature is just the solution. Private Mode accepts all forms of files, from photos to music to notes. To move the files over to Private Mode, select the files to be moved and select Move to Private from the drop down menu. Once Private Mode is turned on, the user will be able to see the restricted folder and move, manage files within it. As soon as you turn Private Mode off, it will hide the restricted files making them invisible to anyone who uses the phone.
The Smart stay feature knows when you are looking at the device via the front camera and it keeps the screen from turning off regardless of the screen timeout setting. This stops it from going to sleep and dimming the screen and saving you the hassle of tapping your screen every 30 seconds to wake it up. When you are not looking at the screen, it switches off your screen saving battery in the process.
The S Health App acts as a pedometer by recording your steps and feeding that information into the app. It also allows you to display your steps on the lockscreen, which saves you the hassle of having to open the app everytime to check your results. In addition, it counts your daily steps and gives you a final number for the amount of calories you have burned throughout the day. If you want to look at your past records, S Health gives you options to view your activities by hour, day and month by tapping the graph icon.
The Samsung Galaxy Alpha comes built in with a fingerprint scanner embedded in the home button for unlocking the device as well as using it to pay for items through PayPal.
Heart Rate Monitor
It features a built in heart rate monitor (HRM) which allows you to put your index finger on the HRM which is located below the camera flash on the back. By firing a red light through your finger, it can capture your pulse so it knows how fast your heart is beating which is then shared with Samsung's S Health app.
