Rumours of a 108MP main camera for Huawei’s Mate 40 series

Rumours of a 108MP main camera for Huawei’s Mate 40 series

Huawei’s Mate 40 and Mate 40 Pro smartphones are scheduled to be released in October 2020. This anticipated launch date has had a little setback due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but it has already gotten the tech world buzzing with rumours of new features. Fanatics have been keeping an eye on the internet and social media platforms like Weibo to look for clues to back these claims.

Huawei has provided stiff competition to other competing Android smartphone brands. Their flagship models have included great features, but the main camera has been a bragging point. They have cleverly identified a need in the market that is obsessed with image capture. It doesn’t matter if you are an amateur photographer, influencer, or just a social media addict, the quality of phone cameras sway the decision making of consumers.

So what is the deal and why is everyone already starting to talk about a phone that is yet to be released for another few months?

According to inside sources of people working in Huawei’s supply chain, one of the main distinguishing features in the Mate 40 and Mate 40 Pro will be a new 108MP camera with improved optical performance. This series of phones are expected to use a 9P lens which has the ability to take care of image degradation and distortion. The result is that the P40 will be able to process images that are better when compared with other standard lenses with 108MP sensors.

Other reports have suggested that the Mate 40 series will have one of the fastest chips on the market, with the Kirin 1020 chipset built upon the new 5-nanometer manufacturing process. However, this has been a much less talked about possible feature, when compared with the new camera unit.

Although these features have yet to be confirmed, Huawei will have an intense amount of scrutiny, not just for their new and improved features in their upcoming models, but also on the next steps the company will take as a whole. It will take more than just a fantastic camera to rise above the controversial news that the company has been tangled up in.

All eyes will be set to see what innovation and technology Huawei will bring to the table in October. Flashy new features might put the Huawei Mate 40 Series to be the best smartphones of 2020. But bigger questions will be lurking, like will Google apps be compatible? Where will the phones be available to purchase? There’s a lot of speculation and consumers will be looking at the launch of this series as an indication of the immediate future of Huawei’s vision.

For the time being, these are all just rumours and speculations. What we hear through the grapevine should be taken with a grain of salt and just like everyone else, we will just have to wait until October for the launch.
