Whilst most current generation Android™ tablets are using a 1 GHz dual-core nVidia™ Tegra 2™ Processor, ARCHOS have partnered with Texas Instruments to leverage the performance range offered by the family of OMAP 4 smart multi-core processors. G9 tablets feature Classic and Turbo models, giving you the choice between a 1 GHz processor, 1.2 GHz processor and, ultimately, a 1.5 GHz processor (1.5 GHz availability starting in December).

To give you more space for your media and apps ARCHOS 80 G9 tablets are available in flash storage and 250GB hard drive storage versions. Using an intelligent caching system on the hard drive versions, your 250GB ARCHOS 80 G9 will feel as fast and responsive as a flash device but gives you storage space to spare.

ARCHOS has a rich, 10 year history with hard drives in portable devices – in 2000 they were the first to feature a hard drive in an MP3 player with the Jukebox 6000, they were the first to market an Android tablet with a hard drive in 2009 and with the launch of its G9 tablet range, they are the first tablets to feature a Seagate® Momentus® Thin hard drive with 250GB1 of storage capacity.

The performance and capacity of the Momentus® Thin drive are the perfect complement for the cutting-edge speed of the ARCHOS G9 family of tablets giving users 250GB1 of capacity, eight times more than a standard 32GB1 tablet. “32GB1 flash or a 250GB1 hard drive, it costs us manufacturers the same price, so why should you have to pay a premium for the extra space?” At least that’s what we think at ARCHOS.

Intelligent hybrid solution
Wanting to give users the best of both worlds, ARCHOS paired the Seagate® Momentus® Thin hard drive with a dedicated 4GB1 flash caching system. This ARCHOS engineered hybrid solution offered on all ARCHOS G9 hard drive tablets is designed to limit spinning and to keep the drive powered down when not in use, which will protect it when on the go as well as preserve battery life. These unique features combined with ARCHOS’ changes in Android to allow for hard drives means that your 250GB1 HDD feels like it’s an SSD.
